Mayor Andre Dickens has announced a formal bid for Atlanta to host the 2024 Democratic National Convention. “We’re going to do everything in our power to bring the 2024 Democratic National Convention to Atlanta, Georgia,” Dickens told attendees at a Friday fundraiser downtown.
Atlanta was the site of the July 1988 Democratic gathering that nominated Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis for president and Texas Sen. Lloyd Bentsen for vice president, held in the now-demolished Omni arena. apnews.com
