378 Gallery will host the Ear Pollen music series devoted exclusively to experimental music and curated by Atlanta composer and performer, Klimchak. Ear Pollen will be held monthly on the third Wednesday of each month beginning at 7 pm. Each month will feature performances by two or three local, regional, national or international musical acts, focusing on solo and duo performers

The series is curated by Atlanta composer and performer, Klimchak. He has made a lifetime commitment to experimental music and is known for his use of electronics and homebuilt instruments. He has composed electro acoustic music for theater, film, dance, and solo performances in the experimental realm. In 2009, he was the winner of the Loridans Arts Award, given to “accomplished artists who have made exceptional contributions to the arts life of Atlanta over a long period of time.” It’s known by many as Atlanta’s version of the MacArthur Fellows Program. More info on Klimchak is available at his website, klimchakmusic.com

The opening concert of the series will take place on Wednesday, January 15 at 7 pm. The featured performer will be thereminist/electronic musician Andrew Levine from Hamburg, Germany. Also on the bill will be Atlanta’s Helton & Bragg, a free-spirited, improvisatory duo using drums, guitar and synthesizers, and Tim Crump, saxophonist & clarinetist who works at the intersections of the jazz language with free improvisation, extended techniques, and electronics.
