From the venue:

Jackson Fine Art is excited to start 2022 with an exhibition featuring work by William Eggleston from private collections. Eggleston is one of the most celebrated pioneers of color photography. He rose to prominence in 1976 with a solo exhibition of color work at the Museum of Modern Art. Known for exploring the photographic possibilities discovered in the ephemeral and seemingly insignificant everyday life, Eggleston’s work presents colors, forms, and familiar objects and scenes, through a different lens rendering them complex and fascinating. Black and White to Color spans over different periods of Eggleston’s career. It includes a rare group of early silver gelatin prints that formed and shaped the foundation of his aesthetic, vintage color prints, a large collection of chromogenic prints from his Democratic Forest series, several iconic dye-transfers, as well as his most recent archival pigment prints. This exhibition is shown in person and online. William Eggleston (American, b. 1939) was born in Memphis, Tennessee, where he continues to live today. Eggleston was instrumental in making color photography an acceptable and revered form of art, worthy of gallery and museum display. Since the 1970s, his work has been displayed at prominent institutions worldwide. Throughout the years that followed, Eggleston published several portfolios including, Election Eve in 1976, the Morals of Vision in 1978, and Troubled Waters in 1980. In 2003 he published Los Alamos, which contained work from 1966 to 1974. Eggleston received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in 1975 and has been the recipient of numerous notable awards.
