The Rock*A*Teens are back!

The cat is out of the bag: Whispers of the Rock*A*Teens return to the stage this year have been circulating for weeks, but like a thief in the night, guitarist Justin Hughes posted a Facebook update around 11 p.m. last night that reads, "The Rock*A*Teens are playing The Earl on June 6th and 7th, and Sweet Bird of Youth is being released on vinyl on June 3rd 2014!"

Let that sink in for a minute ...

A rather unceremonious announcement for one of the most unlikely but welcome reunions Atlanta indie rock has seen in over a decade. At least since the Rock*A*Teens played their last show at Echo Lounge on New Year's Eve, 2002.

Word is, the band's lineup will be the same as its last incarnation: Chris Lopez (guitar/vocals), Justin Hughes (guitar), Will Joiner (bass), and Ballard Lesemann (drums). Also, according to the Rock*A*Teens' Facebook page, "new member Michelle Dubois" will join the band as well.

Tickets will be $15 for each night, and they go on sale Fri., Jan. 24, at 10 a.m.

Buy tickets for Friday night.

But tickets for Saturday night.

In the meantime, Jeffrey Siler's documentary, Sew A Doll About It, is pretty great, and serves as an excellent primer to the Rock*A*Teens experience.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
