Students arrive in Atlanta just in time to experience one of the city’s largest annual events, also known for being the world’s largest anime and sci-fi convention that features artists, actors, personalities and more. THE FOX THEATRE
A unique theater in Midtown, the Fox is the perfect place to see a movie, play, concert, or even a performance of The Nutcracker during the holidays. The Fox is a great opportunity to experience one of the city’s most beautiful historical landmarks that is still as popular today as it was in the roaring ’20s. GEORGIA AQUARIUM
The world’s largest aquarium opened in 2005 and weighs in with more than 8 million gallons of water. A trip to the aquarium is an entertaining and educational experience where visitors can peruse more than 60 exhibits modeled after the greatest zoos and aquariums in the world. $26-$35. THE KING CENTER
The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of Atlanta’s most important and famous residents. This living memorial features exhibits, videos, a library and more that offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn more about his life’s work and mission. STONE MOUNTAIN
The large granite mountain just outside of the city is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. While most of Atlanta ventures out for the laser show or the kiddy attractions and shops, your best bet is to either take the Skyride or hike all the way to the top for one of the best views just outside the Perimeter. $10 parking, $26 park entrance. THE WORLD OF COKE
This Southern attraction is a must, if not for the experience, then for the simple fact that it’s the pride and joy of Atlanta. All that history stuff is interesting, sure, but the best part is sampling the Coke from around the world at the end of the tour. For the cost of a few six packs, you can tour the museum and watch a 4-D informational movie. $15.
