A Magellan Strategies poll has Karen Handel way ahead of the pack in the race to be Georgia's Republican nominee for governor.

The poll, conducted before Sarah Palin endorsed Handel as her preferred pro-American Georgian-American, shows Handel with 32 percent of the vote, Nathan Deal and John Oxendine with 18 percent, Eric Johnson with 12 percent, and 14 percent undecided.

If no candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote next week, the top two candidates will compete in a run-off.

Magellan Strategies is Republican polling firm that has nothing to do with the Portuguese explorer.
