The Melting Pot Mon., Oct. 7, 4 p.m. Game Day Girls Night Out Instead of watching football, women can enjoy girl’s night out at the Melting Pot. Ladies can enjoy the “skinny dipping” menu and a three-course fondue meal that is under 700 calories.

Valenza Mon., Oct. 7, 6:30 p.m. Arbios Wine Dinner Valenza’s chef Matt Swickerath will prepare a four-course dinner with special guest, winemaker Bill Arbios, in attendance.

Atlanta Wine School Mon., Oct. 7, 7-9 p.m. Man vs. Wine For the third year, some of the top sommeliers in the region compete for sharpest palate, all tasted blind. Master Sommelier Michael McNeill will lead the competition and deliver commentary. Guests will be able to sample all of the wines in the competition along with light bites.

Apple Valley Rd Park Sat., Oct. 12, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. 2nd Annual Brookhaven Chili Cook Off This year’s chili cook-off features more than 60 participating restaurant and amateur teams. Festivalgoers can purchase tasting spoons in advance for $5 or at the gate for $10. Proceeds will benefit the Atlanta Fundraising Foundation.

Holeman & Finch Public House Sat., Oct. 12, 11 a.m. Academy of Bartending: American Whiskey For casual sippers and avid collectors alike, this is Holeman and Finch’s definitive class on American whiskey making. Students will learn about styles and production methods of whiskey while enjoying a burger and a number of whiskey samples.

John Howell Park Sat., Oct. 12, 11 a.m. Battle of the Burgers More than 20 Atlanta restaurants will compete for the title of best burger. All of the proceeds go to Embraced, a nonprofit that collects gently used orthopaedic equipment for individuals in need.
